The scheme involves the construction of a Storm Retention Chamber to prevent spillage of foul water into rivers in storm conditions. The existing Pumping Station could not handle overflow volume in the extremes of storm and high tide.
An early consideration was ground settlement and de-stabilisation caused by previous structure foundations on the site.
The new holding facility (3 million cubic litres) can be filled or emptied in under 2 hours.. Lyndon Williams is managing the programme with our alliance partners Morrison Construction.
